Hand control for Piper PA 28 -140,-180,-151,-161,-181 |
![]() |
The photo shows the system installed in a Piper PA 28-140, built in 1977. The hand control is made for portable installation in Piper PA 28 Aircraft (all models with the "new" engine controls). There is no modification necessary on the aircraft to install this system. Nose wheel and rudder are controlled by a stick at the right side of the pilots seat. A left rudder/nose wheel deflection is made by pushing the lever forward, a right deflection is made by pulling it backward. The throttle is controlled by turning the grip of the rudder stick: The 9 o'clock position (as shown in the picture) is for throttle idle, the 12 o'clock position is for full power. The silver coloured hook in the middle of the photo is a prolongation of the brake grip so that it can be operated with the left hand (optional). All the parts are attached to the aircraft by brackets. The grip is connected to the standard throttle lever by a bowden cable. |
| The problem with the springs in
the nose
wheel steering system is eliminated by a system of bars, pulleys and
cables
installed in the cabin (see diagramm).
